Happy Birthday Elder Summers!

Emails from Elder Summers the week of June 22nd

"Hey yeah I got my package on Tuesday so I had to wait the whole week
till I could open it, but that's ok it was worth it; I'm really happy for them I love all the presents! Yeah J the ward member should be emailing you some pictures, so yeah it was his birthday too.  I really enjoyed the pictures and the video that was sent; I enjoyed seeing everyone move and speak, it was nice.

Yeah I heard
that it's been super rainy in Oklahoma so that's good that you survived. Grammy told me that she was helping take care of a sister in the ward that was not doing so well but did not tell me it was Miss Shari; I'm really sorry about her dying. Tell Jessie CONGRATS  on being a seminary teacher! She will do super good, she is one cool bean.

Yeah at herbs I
had the Cordon Bleu, it was really big and good! Last Monday I bought a nice watch and some sick looking shoes.  Things here are kinda cheap, like some nice shoes were 25 euros and the watch was 53 euro, so it's sick looking.  Yeah Elder Barnhart still does all the cooking but that's ok.  The work is going really good I don't know all the numbers but all I know is that it's going really good.
The iPads are super cool as well.

Tell Hannah that daddy will never leave her, so he will
always be by her side.  Give everyone my love and best wishes hope that this
week is barf bug free!

Love Me

Birthday box that arrived 5 days before Elder Summers birthday!  WooHoo USPS!
Enjoying a chocolate cake made especially for my missionary.
Wow I forget a lot. So me and Elder Barnhart are over at J's house and they have s big cherry tree, so we picked Cherries and are using their wifi.  Oh, I'm going to get a pair of Aladdin pants today so yeah what Aladdin wears I'm going to get the pants so yeah. I can read your emails through out the week I can't reply to them though so yeah.  You can send little emails through out the week and I can read them when I have wifi, they load and I can still read them even if I don't, so it's super cool and what not.  Again I hope the week goes well.

Love me again.
Happy Birthday Elder Summers from a sweet Wien 5th ward family
Elder Summers and Barnhart enjoying a little fun time with their new mission iPads.  Boys.
I forgot to mention, this transfer was only 5 weeks but normally they are 6 weeks, so I'm one transfer down on my mission and I'm staying in Wien in the same place.  So no changes for me. Love you"

Life Without A/C

"Hey! Thanks for the birthday wishes and whatnot. The pictures I sent were form Schönbrunn Palace, Google it, but yeah.  Things have been great I get along great with Elder Barnhart and he played World of Warcraft too so we talk about that a lot and joke about it just as much. Yeah, as far as my German is going, I can read a lot better than I was, so reading is the key to understanding the language, so yeah.

Staying
cool, well that's tough; we basically just open windows and turn on the fan. It has been humid and really hot! So yeah, fun fun. The church does NOT have AC, only open windows and fans but that's about it.  It's been so hot here all week but today it's been cool and windy and most likely going to rain, so i really like rain.  I heard thunder for the 1st time in months so I was excited!

Everyone is telling me about Blue Hole and the dance recital and what not.  I'm glad it went good but I don't miss sitting through those.  Tell Emma that I will enjoy her emails and I'm
sorry about her toe.  I hope that it gets better soon.  I enjoy all the pictures that you send me and stuff.  I took a picture of me in my Euro suit but I'll send a better one next week. We are going shopping for some new white short sleeve shirts at G3, a mall thing; Primark, it's like super cheap and cool!  So the little girl that's in the Dropbox picture, she's one of my investigators and is super cool and funny.

I love all the emails I get form everyone! I'm ok not being home for my birthday, it's only 2 birthdays I wont be home so that's nothing.  Someone else in the ward has the same birthday as me. He is around 30, has a 2 yr old named B, is form Canada and played WoW!  Also so I'm going over to his house for my b-day I like J(that's his name) Everyone is super cool in the ward and nice.

I'll be on the look out for my birthday present.  The mail here is only Monday-Friday
not Saturday and Sunday.  A lot of places here open later Saturday and Sunday.  So yeah, it's been sweet and hope you enjoy my pictures!  I love You! Sie ist Schön oder Du is Schön, Ich Liebe Sie

Love, Elder Summers
PS. can you send me Amelia´s email, bitte danke"

Wear a Jamba Juice shirt to a castle, that's how he rolls.  Guess what kind of care package Elder Summers will be receiving in the near future.

Schönbrunn Palace is a former imperial summer residence located in Vienna, Austria. The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments in the country.  Thus saith Wikipedia.

The architectural design is Rococo.  Thus saith Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast, and if it's not Baroque don't fix it.  Sorry, bad jokes are finished.

What a brightly colored missionary.  His clothes definitely matches his bright personality.

Sometimes his photographic eye is pretty dang on spot.

Ben-ism from Katie's letter....

"I hope that your summer is fun filled and sweet action stuff."

The Smile and Nod- Week 3 in Vienna

Hey! The language has been OK I guess, I mean its as good as it's going to be 3 weeks out. Really I just say little things I learned it the MTC but all the elders say that it will get better over time.  I still can't understand anything that is said to me though; they have to speak slowly for me to understand.

As far as teaching goes, things are good.  I smile and nod and say a couple things but that's it but all of our investigators are really cool and the spirit, i can feel it in the lessons. Street contacting is not that bad, I mean not a lot of people want to talk to you and we have not giving out any BoM's yet but that will change.

No, I don't just eat cereal; Elder Barnhart cooks all the time and its good food not poop.  I can't think of anything I want for my bday, you know what I like.  Oh, so I bought a 69 Euro suit!  It's a nice European style, skinny fit and its a sweet one! I like the suits here a lot better than the American ones.  The castle is the Belvedere Palace, it's a  meeting house of some sort.

Honestly, electronics and stuff was not that hard to give up. On Sundays we study and go over to members houses and eat.  My suggestion for making the Sabbath day different from the other days is to have some other thing for them to do besides tv or another thing like that.  Speaking of electronics, we get iPads on the 16th for teaching purposes, so yay!

Yeah, things here have been good. It's super hot and humid here, like it sucks!  I bought some short sleeve white shirts and there was a nice winter coat left and my place so i don't need to buy one.  Missionaries just leave stuff they don't want at their old places so yeah.
 Love you and everyone
Love,
Elder Summers

Exerts from the kids emails from Ben:

No, I have not had anyone swear or throw things at me yet.  When I go street contacting I get a lot of "good for you" and "no" but it really does not bother me as much as I thought it would.  I have not died, but it's really, really, really hot and yesterday I had to wear a suit to church and I about died!

Tuesday after district meetings we went to Herbs and it was really good.

Every Tuesday and Thursday we teach English.  Waffle night is every week at the Institute and it's super fun.

Friday night waffles at the Institute.
